No, simply because I didn't be able to reproduce the bug ! OK, for your test with RC2 and if it there is a problem, please open a thread in the "Bugs" forum, I will be more easy for me to help you with this problem.

This version is the latest WinReducer 8.1 build before the FINAL ...  Very Happy

==> Yes, my friends I will stop working for a while on WinReducer 8.1. This doesn't mean the development is finished ! It's important to continue adding bugs or ideas (in respective forum, thank you !), because in few weeks I will release an updated WinReducer 8.1 build if it will be necessary. I will continue, of course, to help you in case you experienced troubles.

So next week :
-  I will finalize the "HowTo.pdf", then I will send the complete translator package to translators.
If you want to become a translator, there will be many languages could be available to translate. You could find the list in the dedicated forum.

- I will also work on all WinReducer 8.1 Presets.

I will try to release the WinReducer 8.1 Final build next Sunday ...  Very Happy

winterstorm2050

EDIT : I will start soon to update WinReducer 7.0 to v3.xx ...  Wink

Hello winterstorm
great work.
i wanted to make a note

i use English (us) windows mainly with the us-keyboard but i need the support of Arabic (Egypt) language to read Arabic files' names and its Arabic (101) keyboard to type ....

i was always achieving this by combining the choice of the Arabic (Egypt) system language and the us-keyboard during installation process.

now you have changed the names of the system languages and keyboards in the unattended section and and in the removal tabs.

so i had to keep Saudi Arabia and English (us) system languages and Arabic and English (us) keyboards during removal process.

and i had to choose Saudi Arabia system language and English (us) in the unattended section which always fails and i always had to change it manually during the install process.

i am stuck at this and either i am doing it the wrong way or the change of the names have affected the unattended part for me.
please help me or fix it Smile

by the way, i noticed that if i keep Saudi Arabia and English (us) system languages in the removal tab then save this image then try to mount this image again ,i notice that it is displayed that all languages are removed including Saudi Arabia and English (us) ... is it a bug or related to my problem?

thanks

Will you also update WinReducer 8.0? Or maybe make 8.1 Compatible for Windows 8.0?

There doesn't seem to be an option to remove 'Offline files' anymore. And the option to remove 'offline files service' is greyed out (unselectable). Why is this?

Yes, I will update it in few weeks.

Nothing change for this. It's only dependent to your Windows 8.1 Edition. So, if WinReducer detects it as removed (or unavailable), it will be greyed. But if you think it's a bug, please use the "Bugs" forum. Thank you.

I don't know if it is a bug or not. But I am following the same procedure I used to earlier, from the same ISO. Reducing a 64 bit AIO ISO, and using only the 'core' edition from it. Earlier I used to have an option to remove offline files (I think it was under features), and an option to remove the 'offline file service'. Now I don't see the former at all, and the latter is greyed out. My resuling ISO is about 20 mb bigger than the ISO I made with previous versions. (I think v.99.6 was the last one I used.) I am sending the previous and current wccf, if it helps.

http://wikisend.com/download/526082/previous.wccf  >>>previous wccf, ISO size 1,990,954

http://wikisend.com/download/298660/current.wccf   >>>current wccf, ISO size 2,011,368

Both I use One wccf file

when i setup the new ISO made by winreducer RC2 , i experienced a very long time installation time ( caused by a CMD of DISM) that appears after the first restart in the installation process, this CMD persist working till 100% for 30 minutes

i am not sure what it is... probably it is related to integration of updates

@ amin20:

WOW, your iso sizes (RC1: 796MB and RC2: 1GB) are very impressive!

Would you mind to share (via PM) your wccf file... I am so curious to see how you managed to obtain such an amazing result.

Could you also tell us what is the used space on your system partition right after installation?

BTW, the difference between the 2 iso sizes (RC1 and RC2) is probably due to additional features (newly implemented in RC2) that your wccf file obviously did non have checked/selected and that were therefore not addressed during the 2nd reduction process... This is just my (logical) assumption or "guesstimation", I can be wrong.

Thanks Smile

@ winterstorm:

A short feedback while my other notebook is busy reducing with RC2:

1) In Remover / System / Disable Window Resource Protection. Strange because I disabled it also in previous reductions and WRP still nags if I try to replace/edit some (protected) files such as the native Notepad.exe;

2) Add "Replace native Notepad" feature with option to specify the path of the new exectutable (that must be manually renamed to Notepad.exe);

3) I know that this is a big request (and a lot of work) but it would be excellent if you could edit all tooltips: When a box is checked the tooltip should say what happens when the box is checked and when a box is unchecked the tooltip should say what happens when the box unchecked... (if you need concrete examples, please ask). This will help new users a lot;

4) "Tweaks" Name="Explorer - Remove Network from Navigation Pane" ATTENTION this prevents from enabling to show the Network icon on the desktop!

More feedback (hopefully none or just a loud YIPPIE) after I reboot in my Win 8.1 Lite Very Happy

descriptionWinReducer 8.1 (Old discussion) - Page 28 EmptyRe: WinReducer 8.1 (Old discussion)

In a previous reduction process (after booting into Win 8.1 Lite) in Folder Option (View tab) the button "Apply to Folders" was greyed out, so I changed this:

Element Category="Tweaks" Name="Explorer - Enable Confirmation Dialog to Apply to all Current Items" Selected="false"

To this:

Element Category="Tweaks" Name="Explorer - Enable Confirmation Dialog to Apply to all Current Items" Selected="true"

But the button "Apply to Folders" is still greyed out!

winterstorm2050, according to you are these things related to each other?

Thanks Smile

EDIT: The button "Apply to Folders" is greyed out if I access Folder Option -->> View tab via the Control Panel, but if I access Folder Option -->> View tab via the View menu -->> Folder Option -->> View tab (directly in Explorer) the button "Apply to Folders" is NOT greyed out... So I guess that this is a Windows (old) bug that was even present in XP  Shocked

hi!
i had the same problem, and i think to know with take so much time: i think that to clean tha winsxs folder, winter use command

DISM.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

because i have installed my customize iso of win 8.1 x64, and I run the command just written, and the progress is stuck at 20% for at least 20 minutes, the same % at which it was stopped the installation when I was installing a custom version where I had enabled the deep cleaning of the winsxs folder.

Winter did you use this command into winreducer to improve winsxs clean?

when i don't integrate updates , installation becomes normal.
i am not saying that integration of updates is not working Smile

Hello guys Smile

I cannot install .net Framework 3.5 (nor 3.5 SP1)... I rememeber that there were some talks about this issue but unfortunately today I am totally unable to scour the entire forum and I need urgently to run an app that needs .net 3.5.

Any lifesaver can suggest a quick solution?

Thanks

Just noticed that in "Features" -->> "Net Framework 3.5" is greyed out and consequently my wccf reflects this:

Element Category="Features" Name="Net Framework 3.5" Selected="OK" Value="remove"

I sincerely hope that there is a quick workaround that permits the installation of Net Framework 3.5... Anybody? winterstorm2050? (please help)

Please note that I did not do Net Framework Cleanup:

Yes, I successfully installed Net Framework 3.5 and my app that normally would not run, now runs properly, so I would say that it is functioning.

Hey guys,

I have a problem Sad

I finished my installation (Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit) after having reduced it with RC2 and my system makes no sounds Sad

I installed the audio drivers and all went fine. If I test the audio driver wizard it works (I hear sound) but none of the applications that normally produce sounds actually make sounds!

The only sound-related things in my wccf file are the ones below:

"Remove - Themes" Name="Sounds" Selected="true"
"Tweaks" Name="Sound - Disable all Sounds" Selected="false"
"Tweaks" Name="Sound - Disable Startup Sounds" Selected="true"
"Tweaks" Name="Sound - Disable Auto System Sounds Leveling" Selected="false"

I hope that someone can suggest a workaround for this.... I am not worried about apps that reproduce a click sound (that is not a big deal) but Skype or other VoIP clients without audio... That is not good.

Thanks for any creative solution Very Happy
