WinReducer 7.0 - FINAL Builds

I'm working on a totally new WinReducer 7.0 version for Windows 7 based on the WinReducer 8.1 engine ...

Yes, I'm doing this to thank you for your patience and also because v2.xx is an unfinished work (lack of time) and I really don't like that !  

So, I will create a totally standalone software (= doesn't required RT7-Lite) with improvements coming from WinReducer 8.1 Engine. Like this all GUI Themes or Windows Themes will be supported by WinReducer 7.0 v3.xx to improve user experience.

I've tried to mount my old Windows 7.0 ISO with ImageX (as I always found it faster than dism) under Windows 8.1 and it mounts it a little faster than Windows 8.1 ISO. So good news, mounting a Windows 7.0 ISO works under Windows 8.1 without troubles ...  

Great news that it can run in windows 8,1 . I can't wait to try it! I can give you feedback on an alpha build too if you want

Of course I need everyone interested by this, to test all builds and report feedbacks ...

1. For the moment, I'm working on the compatibility of WinReducer with Windows 7 ISOs.
So, I will remove everything which don't work on Windows 7 (Features, Services, Modern UI Apps). For example, all Modern UI Apps are not available any more in WinReducer 7.0 - v3.0, but I replaced them by all Windows Sidebar and Gadgets removing !   

2. And the 1st try I made yesterday, I reached a 1.5Go ISO (32 bits) with few components removed.
But this will be a long trip to reach a good ISO size and also because there are so many times I've not use Windows 7 !!!!

I will release a pre-alpha build, at the end of this week (15 or 16 February), to see what it could be done with it (mount, unmount, remove few components, ...).
 For the moment :
- "Appearance" tab is operational
- "Remover" tab : only "Gadgets" and "Optimizations" are available
- "Unattended" tab is operational

I will work on adding many other components to remove.

Ok although there will be little functionality I will give it a roll when it's there to try out if those parts works. Thanks!

First information about v2.99.1 :

- Original ISO size : 2.32 Gb (x86)
- Lited ISO size : 1.72 Gb (x86)

- I will provide a new Windows Official theme pack to test "Appearance" tab, in the WinReducer v7.0 zip package. Especially to support Windows Themes differences between Windows 7 and 8. So DO NOT use all theme packs provided in the website, they are not compatible for the moment !

- And if you use this Official theme pack, the included wallpaper will automatically replace the default blue logon picture.

You need to wait until I will release it. This should be in few hours ...   

I will also update the 1st post of this thread to explain you how the version numbers will work.

STARTING : v2.99.1.0 Feedbacks and Support posts !

This version is available to download (link in the 1st post) !

1. So you could add your feedbacks starting from now and until I will close this build support. So, no more support will be done for this WinReducer build and you will be informed by a "CLOSING : v2.99.x.x Feedbacks and Support posts !" message post.

2. Then, for the next build, a new "STARTING" support post will be opened.

I rebuild the zip package because I forgot to add the Theme pack, so you will find it in the folder "Integrate->Themes".

and after clicking on the Update button:

2. If the error occurs each time, go in your "WinReducer.xml" and change "Update" value from "true" to "false". I will have a look and release a fix in few hours

hello,

i used an windows 7 professional N x64 (2,71Gb)
after selecting all i could (just not compressing WinSxs folder)
i got an 2.05 Gb iso

but in virtual box i got this error:

i will try again without useing the Optimizations

Iso extraction went without problems also loading the german.xml translation (no problems)


EDIT:

i tried again and i selected to remove all other versions, but it didnt:



also removing all gadgets this is still there:




but this time the error didnt happen

(reducing windows 8.1 i also selected all optimizations and i never got any error like this)

i will test further tomorrow
