I believe t would be better if the user would have the possibility to change between "expert" and "normal" modus, so everyone can try first the normal modus and than the "expert" modus.

Or, if possible, put in a fold out + - option you can click out and the Expert options fold out. It could read something like "Expert options: only use these options if you are experienced at making lite images." or something like that Smile

i kinda dont like the idea of having 2 versions of one tool,

why dont you add a button to enable/disable expert options to the START page?

Or maybe even better to the configuration Tab (maybe next to the language selection?

I like KrX's idea Smile.

EDIT: I finished the second part of the script. This removes the unneeded files from the WinSxS\Manifests folder. The instructions are the same, except that you have to take full ownership of that folder, and place the script in it.

NOTES: AS BEFORE, THIS BATCH SCRIPT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK WITH LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH FROM THE US. ALSO, IT WILL ONLY WORK ON 64 BIT ISOS.

ONLY FOR PROFESSIONAL N ISOS: http://www.mediafire.com/download/xjdl6974ki3i6jd/MANIFESTS.BAT

FOR EVERY OTHER ISO (it is the same as the one above, but with 104 less files removed): http://www.mediafire.com/download/uc40tmuth8tx1nu/MANIFESTS%282%29.BAT

Just one more batch script left Razz.

Good work! I don't have time to test those scripts yet, but it would be nice if Winter could add them as an experimental "clean" option.

Hello guys,

Thank you for your ideas on "Expert" option. I will submit you something for the next build (v2.99.1.4) ...  Wink

-----------

And I've worked on v2.99.1.3, during the last 2 days, and I could tell that you will be interested by it :

* I've successfully integrated around 480 components (many more available than previous build v2.99.1.2).

* Windows x86 Ultimate Edition ISO size : 826MB (with Expert options activated !)

--> For the moment, no "Drivers" or "Services" have been removed and no billybully expert scripts are available yet in winreducer ...  Very Happy  And the ISO is working great in a VMware Player virtual machine !

----------

@billybully: AMAZING ! Go on my friend !  bounce

@KrX: I'm interested about your feedback on Professional N bug. Thank you very much ...  Very Happy

----------

I need to test a little bit more, but as I will not have enough time in the next hours, so I will release build v2.99.1.3 tomorrow with its huge changelog ....  Wink

so between those 2 batch files i couldnt remove the files and folders that are related to any other Windows Version.

here are the folders that caused a blue screen :

so you could say for me only the second batch (second link) worked + these folders:

but removing all those folders (which got me a blue screen) saved 0,1Mb

Wow Surprised. Did the second script work on your German ISO? That surely is interesting... OK, I'm about to start making the other batch script. I'll submit it in around half an hour.

yes like i said the batch for the WinSxS\Manifests folder, you wrote

"FOR EVERY OTHER ISO" worked for me + the 5 folders i mentioned on my last post.

The batch you wrote "ONLY FOR PROFESSIONAL N ISOS" didnt work on my Professional N x64 German iso, i dont know why, i also tried (because the foldes are named ultimate, starter etc) to delete each of them just keeping the once for professional N, but it didnt work either.

EDIT: im really hyped up now to get the next batch xD Razz

OK, guys... All finished Smile. This third batch script removes the things the previous two didn't. The instructions are the same, except that you have to take full ownership of the whole mounting folder, and place the script in it (where the setup.exe is located).

NOTES: The notes are the same as the second batch script, but there's one more. This batch script removes all the licenses in the sources\License folder, except for the Enterprise E ones. "Why would you do that?", you may think. Well, it is because the Enterprise E licenses are the smallest among all the other licenses. This saves up a few more bytes, but you will have to rename the folders from "EnterpriseE" to whichever edition you use (like "homepremiumn", "professionaln", "ultimatee", etc.)

Here's the link. Enjoy Smile.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/jgvng19kwk68d6j/ROOT.BAT

PS: KrX, would you mind making a whole new boot.wim file? I think that the blue screen issue was because of some files I didn't include in the second batch script (the one for the Professional N edition), but I did include in this third one. So, if you are interested, here's what you'll do:

1. Mount an untouched boot.wim file, and take full ownership of the mounting folder.
2. Run the SYSTEM32.BAT file.
3. Run the ROOT.BAT file.
4. Run the MANIFESTS.BAT file.
5. Rename the licenses from the sources\License folder from "EnterpriseE" to "professionaln".
6. Save the changes.

I'm eager to read your feedback Smile.

i did (changed all en-US to de-DE):

1. Done (152Mb) removed befor the Windows PE(162mb)
2. Done witout problems (150mb)
3. Done (after that i still got 482 folders in WinSxs) (73,2Mb)

after using the ROOT.bat i got a "problem"
the language changes from German to English.
i will get a look on it later.

4. Done First with the batch for all (72,5Mb) Blue Screen
With the batch for Professional N (72,4Mb) Blue Screen
there are some x86 files in my Manifest folder left
(from here i reversed the boot.wim with the one from step 3)

5. Done after step 2

Last step i deleted all other folders in WInSxs (kept the 3 you mentioned in the other thread) (70,6Mb ) And works

6. Done

so now i will look why my german language changes to english, and also what causes the bluescreen

What? Your boot.wim file is very different from mine, then. Firstly, I don't get a blue screen, and second, the ROOT.BAT file removes everything in my WinSxS folder (except for the three folders you have to keep).

But, hey, at least your boot.wim file is now as large as mine's Very Happy.

haha xD once im finished finding the problematic files i will post a list of the folders and files that are left in WinSxs and Mainfest

EDIT:

Deleting in the system32 folder the german keyboard didnt change anything for me

The language changed because i also deleted this folder:

rd /s /q sources\de-DE  (i changed it from en-US)

but for first i could delete this:

del sources\de-DE\*.rtf

maybe some more stuff could be deleted

.........................................................

that are the folders that are left in WinSxs (479 folders): (save to remove)

i could delet all these files but i needed to keep the "de-DE" files (2 files) and now it works (NO BLUE SCREEN) and my boot.wim is now 70.0 Mb

i will see if it also works with the Manifest batch for Professional N you posted

EDIT 4:

yes when i keep these 2 files the batch for Professional N also works, boot.wim is now 69,9MB

EDIT 5:

you could also remove this:

del Windows\servicing\Sessions\*.back.xml
del Windows\servicing\Version\6.1.7601.17514\x86_installed

Amazing work, KrX Very Happy.

1. Does your sources\ folder contain both English and German folders (en-US and de-DE), or just the German folder? Also, I saw the list of your remanant WinSxS folders, and I can see why they are left there. They all are "de-DE" folders, and, since my boot.wim file is in English, they aren't in it at all, hence they are not part of the ROOT.BAT file. And you can't really do anything apart from removing them yourself because the alphanumeric codes at the end of the folders' names change for all languages. But, yes, it is safe to remove absolutely everything in the WinSxS folder except for the three folders I told you (the three of them are language neutral, so they share exactly the same code in every boot.wim).

2. They are left because I didn't know you could safely remove them. Thanks for the info, dude! Very Happy I will add them to my batch script.

3 & 4. Have you tried removing the en-US files in the Manifests folder? I mean, it is possible to remove them in your boot.wim file because it is in German. You only need the German files, not the English files. Please remember that my batch scripts are all based in MY boot.wim file. I do remove German files because I only need the English ones. For you, it is the other way around. Have you tried to remove them already? If not, would you try it please?

5. Thank you for the Windows\servicing folder info! Very Happy I'll add it to my batch script and see how that goes. The 0407 folder isn't in my boot.wim because that's a German folder. Would you check if you have the "0409" folder in your untouched boot.wim?

6. Do you have an instant messaging application? Lol. I don't like waiting around for an answer in the forum. Can we talk someplace else?

Hey i got two things:

1. At Presets when i chose to protect important files a messenge shows up that i removes previously components that are saved by that preset. But i used a clean non touched iso file oO

2. At features there are some things grayed out like "Games - FreeCell", but "Games - Chess" is not grayed out ??

Removing now all Components that are availabe.

Windows Professional N x64 german

befor 2,71 Gb
after 1,22 Gb

EDIT: @billybully

to 1. i´ve got only a de-DE folder no en-US or others
so if in winsxs the codes changes for each language why not let the batch copy or cut the 3 folders that are needed to a folder on maybe c (or a Winreducer folder) delete everything in WinSxs and than copy/cut the 3 folders back?
so all folders would be deleted and it doesens matter if somebody got another language etc

3&4. no i didnt try that but i will in some minutes.

5. no i only got the 0407  folder no others

6.
what  messaging application would you prefer?
but im offline in 30 mins for the rest of the day because im at a birtday YAY !

@winterstorm, i got a bluescreen again xD
i will test whats causing that maybe tomorrow

EDIT:

deleting

1. Hahaha. Believe me, if I knew how to do that, I WOULD DO IT. I'm not a programmer, I had to Google some stuff to create my batch file Embarassed lol.

6. How about BlackBerry Messenger? Or Outlook? Or Facebook? I don't know what you guys use in Germany Embarassed haha.

Winter... I'm proud to confirm the completion of the three batch files for the boot.wim file.

Here are the links:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/xjdl6974ki3i6jd/MANIFESTS.BAT
http://www.mediafire.com/download/jgvng19kwk68d6j/ROOT.BAT
http://www.mediafire.com/download/y5orqsgt6x9vif9/SYSTEM32.BAT

Be sure to read the instructions I gave about their use if you haven't done it already.

Are you going to integrate them in your software? Smile

Yes billybully, with a great pleasure ! And THANK YOU VERY MUCH ! And to thank you for your wonderful work you will receive a PM with a surprise in 2 days ... maybe a Lifetime VIP ticket, who knows ...  Wink

I will probably integrate them around v2.99.1.7 ....  Very Happy

Just because in :
v2.99.1.4 = I will add "Drivers"
v2.99.1.5 = I will add "Control Panels"
v2.99.1.6 = I will add "Services"
v2.99.1.7 = I will add all your batch files

And because I need to see how many files are already removed by WinReducer until v2.99.1.6 ...

PS : I got all your files

1. This is normal, because you are using an N ISO where Windows Media Player is missing, and winreducer detects it as missing and this informs you that some files can't be protected. But I will remove it for all "N" editions

2. Could you please check if Freecell exists in the games folder.

And Thank you very much for all your excellent work in the forum !

Damn! That's great, Winter! Thank you, man! Haha cheers. Just so you know, I would have donated money to you ages ago, but I'm under 18, and my mom won't lend me her credit card, lol.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next versions, dude. I'll only have today as a free day though, because I'm going to the beach tomorrow baby  bounce  Cool.

OK, guys, I've found EVEN MORE files to remove from the boot.wim. It turns out you were right, KrX. You can remove all NLS files in the System32 folder (except for the ones in the link you provided) Smile.

First, add these lines to the SYSTEM32.BAT:

Spoiler :

And second, add these lines to the MANIFESTS.BAT (I've removed from the list one file you guys need, and added one file I need but you guys don't):

Spoiler :

And run the scripts again Razz. Tell me how it went for you Smile.

the "extra" batch for the Manifest files worked for me again ;=)

boot.wim now 69,4 Mb

I tried running WinReducer on an updated Win7 Pro several times but it's always giving me trouble. I get the "cannot find drivers" error during Setup, but I haven't selected to remove any drivers. I tried inserting a different boot.wim in the iso's I tested to see if it was somehow messing with the boot.wim drivers, but that didn't help either. So it has to be something it's doing to the install.wim. I did select to remove the WinSxS stuff so it could be that is the problem.

Has anyone tried it on updated images with IE11 integrated, etc? The reason I ask is because I can run vLite on updated images to a certain point, but when I use vLite on recent images that have IE11 integrated and the newer hotfixes, vLite fails during the preparation phase. When I have it operate on an older or not-updated iso, it works fine. So I know something in the more recent updates (perhaps platform update required for IE11, or some other kernel type update) is causing vLite to fail. But I also can't seem to get it to work with WinReducer. WinReducer finishes the job, but I get driver or other errors during install so I can't complete the install.

Hi winterstorm,
the hotfixintegration works fine for me, but the drivers are not all integrated. Why do you not put in a change to choice the sequence of the drivers like it is possible in the Winttolkit of Legolash2o ? The DOS windows remembers on the 7customizer, which is nolonger developed.
The SFX section(OEM) does not work for me, my proggies are all not integrated. There appeares no window when it is integrated.
Regards

@winterstorm2050

hey i´m getting this error when removing some features "remove"

WinReducer 7.0 - FINAL Builds - Page 3 Vgk689xp

100% that Internet Explorer is causing it

but i also get this error when removing

(1st group) EDIT !!!
Printing - Internet Printing    NO ERROR
Printing - Fax and Scan Services  ERROR
Remote Access....NO ERROR
Remote Diff.....NO ERROR
Telnet Client.....NO ERROR

(2nd group) EDIT !!!
Windows Sidebar              NO ERROR
Windows Tablet PC           ERROR
Xps Viewer...                    ERROR

so like i said IE is causing this error 100% and something (dont know if 1 or more features) in group 1 and also in 2 is causing it, too.
i was a bit borred of testing this 2 groups out to find the features that cause it.

Maybe i will look into it in the next days.

I couldnt reproduce the Bluescreens i got in .3 and mentioned it earlier. So hopefully it dont appear again.

EDIT:

Features that cause it to 100%:

Internet Explorere
Windows Tablet PC
XPS Viewer and Printer
Printing - Fax and Scan Services

EDIT:
so i finally checked all features that i wanted to remove, the 4 features above cause the problem and all other should be save

also there is no icon on my taskbar for WinReducer.

and winterstorm, when i select Start ..> folder why is the folder "EXTRACT" choosen and not "ExtractedByWinReducer" ?

also removing the games explorer leaves an empty folder at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

and an hidden folder "Tablet PC" is left
