hey, i've got that error before when trying to install W8.1 preview on VirtualBox. seems like that only occur with VirtualBox, because when i installed it on VMware Player everything work fine

hey winter i tested beta4 today too. it is working really good. with just 390 components removed my x64 is 1.77gb

but still 4 things:

1. at bootable usb device i can see my devices again but in german it says again "Datentr[]ger" ([] should be 'ä')

2. i removed the xbox 360 driver after finishing and starting the reduction again it was shown again (i dont know if it wasnt removed properly or just shown again. i didnt test the made .iso till now because im going to bed now Razz

)

the printers and scanners arent correctly sorted ? they are sorted by name (Brother, Cannon etc) it was a bit anoying for me because i dont use any scanner but only HP and Cannon Printer

4. (at the pictire above) there is a Ethernet Atheros driver but no wireless Atheros driver. will it be in th next beta?

Ran beta 4 again and got quite a nice installation now Very Happy

Only one "major" I run into:

I can't access my samba shares. When I try to mount or type "\\myserverip" It tells me "Windows can't find "\\myserverip". Check the spelling and try again." It seems I lost smb client?

Some "minor" issues which I don't care, but maybe care for others:

- "photos" metro application won't work -> "The remote procedure call failed"
- metro search doesn't work (search in file explorer does work)
- I get unrecoverable errors when I run sfc /scannow (see logfile)

2. to start the reduction again, are you using the saved wccf in your previous ISO ?

1. I can't help you for samba shares, never used it, but try to keep "Features - Telnet Client and Server" and/or "Accessories - Control Panel - Homegroup". Maybe, this could help. But if you find which ones breaks samba, I will fix it.
2. Try beta 5 for MetroUI Apps and "sfc /scannow" is a know issue when removing things with program such as WinReducer

--> In beta 5, there will be many changes/improvements so I hope it fix some of yours ....

Hey Winter no i didnt use the wccf file i just started winreducer and got to the removing components.
All components i removed earlier werent listed there exept the xbox360 driver

I found out another one in beta 4: virtualbox installation fails on oobe when the sysprep preset isn't used.
Beta 4 is getting close, looking forward to beta 5 Cool

The same for myself.

I've removed heaps of the Control Panel features, applied the unattended xml, Metro Apps removed (all of them, I don't like the Metro Apps), and a few other bits & pieces.

All went very well Indeed on Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. Great Job Winter Smile

- "Services – Internet Connection Sharing" : break all “MetroUI Apps”
- "Services – Windows Update Service" : break “Net Framework 3.5” installation
- “Tweaks – Sound – Disable all Sounds” : seems to not work correctly (Sound scheme always windows default one)

I don't think because I would like to finish integrating many customization components before release a final build, so there will be maybe 2 more beta before a final release.

Hello NODeath,

In your DVD sources folder, try to create a "PID.txt" file (simple text file), then add these 2 lines in it :

[PID]
Value=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

Replace "xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx" by your serial key

Hope this works ....

beta 5 works like a charm and i love to lite Windows. It always give the system a great performance boost.

Will there be any option to remove the Windows Smart Screen Filter in the future?

i tested the beta5 and the bug of the broken windows search if i remove languages is still there! (even if i check the preset to protect windows search) anyone has the same bug?

*windows search break if you chose protect search setting
*if you open services on windows or gpedit.msc (windows can not open this file format) and you see gose windows app
