@KrX Ok, that should be fairly simple to fix. I'm waiting to hear from Yuriy so I can see why the batch files are failing.
brittech wrote:Ok, Yuriy.
Let's find out what's happening.
Please could you mount your boot.wim file, as before, but this time I just want to capture a complete listing of the files within your boot.wim image.
so, when the image is mounted, from the cmd prompt, please type:Code:
dir /a /ogn /s /b d:\wimoffline >image_list.txt
Thanks
brittech wrote:@Torrentus your boot.wim worked once I restored these files only!

"Windows\System32\en-US\Licenses\_Default\Professional\license.rtf"
"Windows\System32\en-US\Licenses\_Default\HomePremium\license.rtf"
If people find your boot.wim is broken, try restoring those files first.
brittech wrote:@KrX you're probably right. Although, we could perhaps continue to ask users in the background to test certain stuff... They love it
@Yuriy
Try this,
replace_dirs_3.bat
But you will now need this file, place it in your Windows folder.
rm.exe
brittech wrote:So sorry, Yuriy, my problem. Wrong link.
Try this,
remove_dirs_3.bat
You also need this
rm.exe
brittech wrote:That's ok. I've removed parts of the original folder names so they match Windows 7 or 8.
Let me know if it works. Then I will try to fix remove_files.bat
brittech wrote:it is necessary for boot.wim, but you need then to place it at the directory where you are working... example D:\
It is used in the batch file instead of 'rmdir'
Torrentus wrote:@brittech and KrX to make it clear, do you guys have a SSD and tried to install with my boot.wim ? It would be good to know if you can install on a SSD or not, I don't have one yet but soon .
The problem is I did this boot.wim half year ago and I can't remember if I removed universal SSD drivers or not...
mrpotter2510 wrote:Thank you so much for the great tutorial Torrentus
But there's 1 little thing, in my windows 8.1 boot.wim, I deleted msftedit.dll, and it still works
mrpotter2510 wrote:I'll try it on windows 8 and I'll let you know
EDIT: It also works on windows 8
hi,
you asked for the boot, wim batch file:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
you will need to change some lines here. i.e.:
- i remove files with german languages from folders with de-DE
- i remove all keyboards exept german once
- i remove files from all windows edition exept Pro N
. i remove all NLS files exept german once
- i remove all drivers i dont need
it could also be that some files i remove you need to keep so your boot.wim will work. i think that this batch removes nearly everything possible, i couldnt remove more or the boot.wim broke.
with this batch my boot.wim gets ~44,8 mb and it worked for all my PCs/notbooks i tried with my iso + VM
