Hello everyone,

The application does seem slick enough, however, all my attempts have failed miserably.

I downloaded the latest Win7 Home Premium ISO from Digital river link, and all of the updates available with Windows update downloader.

I got almost all of them integrated, but then installing it on VitualBox gives the following error- " Windows could not configure one or more system components. Please restart to continue setup."

I got the same error even Wintoolkit. Yet the original untouched ISO is installing perfectly on VirtualBox.

So that leads me to believe that there's something amiss with the updates that are integrated.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

While, I've already spent 3 days with this and am out of time- so I'm just going to install from the last ISO and install the updates through Windows update- I know that's slow but couldn't possibly take me 3 days that I've already spent/ wasted.

I've tried default preset, Laptop preset, modified preset- but there's just something in the updates that keeps on messing up the process right when it says Completing installation.....

So, having read up on this application as much as I could and tried all of the various settings, I just can't get get things to work.

However, I'd like to be able to help so that in future people like me (not very technically sound) don't run into such issues.

Is there any log or anything else that I can provide to help you guys so that you can post precise directions for people to follow and save them the trouble to going through numerous integration cycles but fail.

Thanks,
u81

1.  How did you integrate the updates?
2.  What OS are you using when integrating the updates?
3.  In what order are you integrating them?
4.  I remember a post in the forums here that mentioned a list of 6+ updates that may break the install - see if you can track it down.

EDIT:  Found it...

Hello @britech.

Thanks for the prompt response.

The answers to your questions are as follows:

1-I tried integrating the updates with WinReducer 7.0 as well as WinToolKit 1.5.3 - In WinReducer 7.0 I edited the preset under System > browse and select the folder where Windows update downloader downloaded the updates.
2- Win7 Home Premium x64
3- I let the software order the integration
4- Thanks for the link- I'll look at it next.

Thanks again for the prompt answer.

Ok, thanks.

I think I came across this problem with Windows 8.1 x64.  This is what I did to resolve it.

I put all my updates into one folder (actually, I created symbolic links to each one, but you get the idea).  The reason I did this was because I wanted to integrate them from the CMD line in one go, and in the order they were released.
So I looked to see if they were ordered by KBxxxxxxx  number, which some of them were not, so I renamed the file to make sure it would be integrated in order.
So I had a folder with files starting like this...

[ANSWERED] Win7HmPremSP1x64- Installation fails after updates integrated - when it says Completing installation Ordere10

Then I mounted the original/untouched image and integrated them using DISM.
If any of them could not be integrated (check the DISM.log) then I removed them and started again with an untouched image.
It might also be worth disabling any Antivirus software (temporarily) - maybe take your PC off the Internet if you would feel safer.

Doing this seemed to just work, but I don't really know why?  It could have been coincidental, but I didn't want to waste more time finding out.

Give that a try.

Hello guys,

Maybe you could have a look at this thread, about Windows Updates troubles which breaks your installation ... and in WR 7.0 - v3.00 (RC12) WinReducer will automatically skip all those troubling updates in the available list !
