[SOLVED] Error code 02?

Hello!

I'm having a strange situation here. I always get this message in WinReducer 7 (3.00) on winreducer70.txt:




This line appears for every component or feature I try to remove. I made a test with the resulting WIM, installing windows on a VM, and the features/components don't appears, but the size of WIM don't reduce like before. I'm thinking WinReducer are 'hidding' the features/components, and not removing them.

Tried with x86 and x64 WIMs, the result are the same. I use a 32bit Win7, but I have made tests in a 64bit Win7, and againg, results are the same.

So, why this error happens, and why the final WIM is not reduced anymore?

Hello,

When you choose to remove a components, WinReducer always remove your chosen components, and not just hidding them !

And sometimes, there could be some workarounds and this error code is one of them !

About the reducing size trouble, have you checked "Optimizations - ISO - Windows - Delete Unneeded Editions" and "Optimizations - Windows - WinSXS Backup Folder Cleanup" which are the minimum to have a better reduced ISO.

Finally, about the error code 02, I will have a look on this !

Yes, I checked these options. In really, I don't care a lot about size of ISO. If a component is really removed, then is alright.

I'm trying to make a "slim" Win7 Pro with all updates, for use with some older computers at a school near here (in Brazil, you will be surpresed to see the configurations in some schools).

The original ISO is about 2,3Gb, and the final ISO withou updates and without A LOT of features and components, is about 1,7Gb.

I was thinking about language (the ISO is PT-BR), but if the component are really removed, is something else.

It also depends on which components you removeed : I'm preparing a file which list all sizes for all WinReducer components (and all categories) for all Windows Operating Systems, so you could have a look to it, maybe this week-end.

And according to this, you could hope the best reduced system using "Accessories - Input Method Editor" and "Accessories - Natural Languages", associated with removing all unneeded "Drivers", almost all "Fonts" and all unneeded "Languages" !

Tweaks : Disable the "Paging file" (or better : reduce its size to 512 mb with "Unattended - Page File Size"), and "Hibernation" ("Remover - Tweaks")

You could try to use some "Optimizations - EXPERT" options with extreme precautions to avoid troubles especially with your software you need to install !

I discover a bug, I missed sometimes ago, so it should solve your problem. But in case the bug still present I've added an improved error code : so please, if you have it, do not hesitate to post it in this thread !

I was suspecting this... I noticed right now, some components aren't removed, even if I check these.

Stick Notes, Snipping Tool, Windows Defender, and some others still there. I'm remaking the ISO to test again.

Maybe this thread must be moved to 'bugs', to let other people know about this, don't?

Hi! I'm here again!

I just tested the new version (RC4), and the error codes now are a little different. Now it have another number together. Some lines ends with "error code 02 (03)", others with "error code 02 (06)" or "error code 02 (01)".

About the size... well, I removed ALMOST EVERYTHING to test... and the ISO don't reduce, the final ISO is about 2Gb!

The error code 02 (xx) is not relevant for the ISO size reducing, but as it still present I will try to fix it. Could you please send me some lines with error code 002 (xx) you found in your winreducer70.log. Thank you !

About the size reducing, have you tried the extreme preset in this thread : https://forum.winreducer.net/t608-winreducer-70-presets#5476

This is an experimental wccf made sometimes ago, but if could try it without integrating updates or drivers. Just load the wccf and apply it, and tell me the result !

I have a preset that remove a lot of features and components. Basicly, don't remove drivers and remote connection.

As I sayed, some features and components I checked to remove still there. Snipping Tools, Windows Defender and some others are a exemple.

I check it to be removed, like Stick Notes, Snipping Tools, and others... but it is not removed. After install, they still there! Some other features/components, like Internet Explorer, WMP, Games, and others, are removed OK.

I'm out these days, I don't remember the features/componentes I've checked, but if you want, I can generate a list tomorrow.

Yeah, it worked! The ISO is really reduced, and the features are removed.
