[SOLVED] Winreducer 8.1 v1.05 - breaks April Intergrated.iso and will not integrate any updates also.

Problem 1

Today i wanted to make fresh Win 8.1 iso, with MetroUi apps removed.

My source was this "en_windows_8.1_with_update_x64_dvd_4065090" which has April Update integrated already.

I used v1.05 to remove MetroUI apps (leaving only store and control panel)

Loaded up my iso in virtual machine, then opened windows update.
To my Horror it tells me that I need to update to the April rollup, along with 7 other updates !!!!
It was already integrated into the source iso - so winreducer must have removed it ????????

Problem 2

So I decided to make a new iso, and integrate the above missing updates.
Started again, downloaded the April rollups and put them into "Update_1" folder,  and the 7 other updates from above into "updates" folder.
These two folders were in the "\winreducer81\WORK\INTEGRATE\UPDATES\x64" folder.

I started Winreducer again on a fresh .iso, removed the MetroUi apps, pointed to the above folder for updates, clicked start.

All seemed to go ok, I made the iso, loaded it into virtual machine...... and lo and behold, windows update telling me I need to install April rollups and 7 other updates aswell.
So the intergration process did nothing


Any ideas ?

I just want an up to date Win 8.1 core iso with no MetroUI....

Maybe my updates in problem 2 above didn't integrate as I didnt include the "GA_Rollup" folder in my x64 folder ( as that will definatley be included in my source iso already)

Just to add some information about winreducer updates tool : I'm using the monthly Microsoft security bulletin and rollup updates to create the update catalog. With this method, you will have an up to date sytem for critical or important updates !

Just to come back and say what i have found.

1) If i use my original Win 8.1 iso, and integrate all updates - Including GA_Rollup and Update 1, then I can have a nice up to date .iso which doesn't need any updates after testing in a virtual machine.
Problem is WIM size is very big, and I cant install from USB stick (eg over file size limit for FAT32)


2) If I use the new Win 8.1 .iso from technet with Update 1 already included, according to windows update I still need KB2919355 129mb after installing it.
Now I know the KB2919355 is in fact split into 6 different updates......how can I go and find which one i need and how would I integrate this with Winreducer ???????

Found the problem relating to no2 above.

The update required is KB2934018

So to confirm, people with the latest offical .iso with update_1 already included still need to integrate KB2934018

I've integrated all those and that's all good. But I'm having a separate issue where if I connect a local account to my hotmail account... things break all over...
1. It takes a long time to log in
2. Market apps won't install (most of the time) when they do, they won't run (error)
3. It doesn't download my configuration from the server (background, colors, profile pic, etc...)
4. Sometimes i get an explorer error when logging in...

Using a local account I have none of those issues. (but i can't use Market very well since it requires login)

Same here, but I WinReduced a Windows 8.1 Update ISO (the one from TechNet, SHA=4652DC6EBFEBE02C6A63E167C36E3FAEDFB93999). Afterwards:

- I could log onto my Microsoft Account, but it doesn't sync settings
- Windows Store installations all end in error 0x8007007e errors (Event log ID 20: [Windows Update Agent] Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007007E: *the app*).

And a question: I know SkyDrive/OneDrive won't be removed from the Metro environment, but I thought I read that it would still work from there? For me, the app starts, then crashes but stays active in the taskbar. Clicking on it shows a blank screen for a second, then it hides itself again. Known behavior? In the event log id 5961: [Apps] Activation of the app FileManager_cw5n1h2txyewy!Microsoft.Windows.FileManager for the Windows.Launch contract failed with error: The remote procedure call failed..

@ItGuillaume : To be clear I'm not using Microsoft Account, only local account on my computer, but if you want to use that kind of account, you should probably need "Network - Skydrive" and/or "Features - Work Folders". Because it seems that your MS Account uses Skydrive/OneDrive to store all your settings.

IT WORKED! I kept both SkyDrive and Work Folders and it pulled information correctly... short version is: "If you want the store+app+cloud settings you must keep Sky Drive" (potentially you don't need Work Folders but I'll try it later without it).

But when keeping OneDrive and Work Folders the OneDrive Metro app doesn't work, that's a bit odd. It crashes and gets minimalized... That's because Skydrive.exe is trying to start while SyncEngine.dll is missing. Somehow this file STILL got removed. Maybe that file is part of "Sync Center Folder (Files)"? I removed that...

As soon as I put SyncEngine.dll back in Win\System32, the OneDrive app worked again.

Hello, thank you for your excellent report ! Yes this is a WinReducer bug ! There is a trouble with "Accessories - Briefcase" (which also remove this file). I will fix this as soon as I can !
