No huge deal but...annoying shortcut fail after working with an "experimental" build as I like to keep a bare-bones image handy for USB use and various systems.

So I removed all the major MS features - Media Player, Edge, Defender, Action Center - etc.  Some additional tweaks and privacy settings, altogether it installs and runs great, but for a small link/access issue - which is both the context on desktop for display settings, and the system settings from start menu crash when accessing.

As for WR edits - did not deactivate or remove the options from control panel or settings tabs.

I have a feeling its just a matter of having to live with it as-is due to the main features removals and broken embedded link - however I still wanted to ask if that one (system settings) for display, audio etc can be protected in spite of the removals...?

If not then is fine - but if so a tip or suggestion appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey thanks to both - Carlese and icy007! - All makes sense and definitely going to give it another go applying the info. Funny how the OneDrive Files on Demand is a culprit of broken link(s) - and of course been removing all along so that's a plus to know.  Also the N version makes sense in avoiding issues as well.

Also I just caught on recently to a cause of a NLS Data error on loading - so now apparently the Language & Lang. Support changes are tied in as well to watch out for. So helped out on that issue (so far).

Great!....The tip from Carlese did the trick cheers - solved the shortcut/link issues - plus the extra info on Cortana and Search features helped bring driver recognition back in full swing.

As for a bare-bones OS (PRO 2004 20H1 X64) cannot complain at all - works awesome - plus with the NET 3.5 integrated.

Just did a couple quick tweaks like add safe remove app - set power scheme, etc - and good to go!

If anyone else interested - Take a look at the shared tips on this topic thread - such as leave the OneDrive (Files on Demand) in Network as false - remaining OneDrive options are ok to remove or set as true. Prevents the broken shortcut crashes of display settings and system settings access, etc.

As for Search having probs when Cortana is removed - for me at time being...its either remove both - or keep both to prevent further issues - in my case full driver install.

Last note....for some reason - the Language options are not so friendly in altering.

If set to remove all, then I get a NLS data error crash on install - or - if I keep the main Language support at top as false, plus keep needed National support option as false - then will get a Loop-Boot issue happening when into install....

so until a further fix - I leave all languages as-is and then install/Post Boot works fine. Lot of extra data size on image but does keep it in check.

That's it - appreciate the help! Everyone hang in there and take care.
