Concerning Windows10 Updates

Concerning updates

Today I stumbled onto what is probably the reason why Updates do not work as expected.
i found out that1 update did not install into my windows 10 LTSC..
Today i stumbled onto a russian version activated and updated.
there were 2 items in the updates ;
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4480056)   KB4480056 MSU for Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2 for Windows 10 v1809 64-bit (x64) - 56.2 MB

And 
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4486553)   KB4486553 MSU for Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2 for Windows 10 v1809 64-bit (x64) - 64.5 MB

When I tried to install them  manually onto my Winreduced system i got for both items
the follewing  error::
Installer encountered an error: 0x80070422

So i have been looking onto the internet for it and found this link :

So I opened System Explorer to verify

Windows Update : Disabled
Background Intelligent Transfer Service : Delayed


I said to myself this is not possible , so i started Winreducer to verify and :

Windows Update : In Black Font,not deleted or disabled
Background Intelligent Transfer Service : Delayed : in Black Font,not deleted or disabled

So this is clearly a bug and possibly the reason why Updates are not working properly

Hey icy007,

Have you activated "Presets - Protect Windows Updates" ?

Thanks for the report.

I did not i think ,
but it showed  not deleted in Winreducer when i verified it
In System Explore is was disabled.
So, it should be one or the other.
I think the culprit is here.


i advice You to get an eye onto it.
drivers update are ok
Net Framework 3.5 installs
Net Framework 3.5 and 4.72 insalled
but one cumulative update never installs

I have 2 Winreducer OS Installed , so i was wrong

when this happened Windows Update was not protected

sorry for misleading You, in the one that was protected Updates installed correctly 
Size iso Updates  protected and complete install (?) : Final01.iso 3.070.515.200 01/05/2019 21:12 -a--
Size iso Updates not protected  : FinalTest00.iso 1.769.236.480 20/04/2019 20:22 -a--
That is 1.3 Gb difference

All night up to now i have been verifying and compilating.

The following items seem to be nessasary to update Windows :
Services
Delivery Optimization Service
Update Orchestrator Service
Windows Connection Manager Service Needed For Updates ??, Removes 3 Items
Windows Update Service
Windows Update Medic Service
So i isralled an OS
1 i registered it
2 in ProcessHacker & SystemExplorer I could  start & stop Windowsupdate
3 i connected internet
4 in ProcessHacker & SystemExplorer I could  start & stop Windowsupdate
5 i installed .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
6Installer encountered an error: 0x80070422
7 i run Windows Update, driver and updates downloaded successfully
  All but 1 installed successfully 
:Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4493510)  2019-03 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4493510) did not install , error Error 0x80073701, there is a lot of info onto internet , but usefull ?
8  i tried to istall this update ;
  Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4493509)   2019-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based     Systems (KB4493509)
 again error : Installer encountered an error: 0x80070422 
9 in ProcessHacker & SystemExplorer I could  NOT start  Windowsupdate, it is DISABLED,
 Impossible to start Update Service after Windows Updated
10 SO ????

Mayby a moderator can correct iy ??

Hi
I have been looking at the registry before and after updating windows,
the registry of wuauserv (Windowsupdate) is smaller after updating windows,
see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv

I use RegWorkshopX64 ,this is very handy

this report is old, does this problem still happen?
If there is no new info, or no other gut this problem, i will close this bug report on the end of the week.
