I wonder if this error has any workarounds or if can be fixed.
It appears regardless of "protect sysprep" setting checked.

hi,

i would like to solve this problem. so maybe you could hel me a littel. do you have a wccf file which cause the problem?

also what do i need to try to see the bug? just reduce an image, install it and start the sysprep.exe?

@winter

are those files and the index service already protected by the sysprep preset?

Hello,

I will let you know tomorrow because it seems that some files, of the list, are not protected correctly.

Hello,

I confirm that the Protect Sysprep preset missed to protect some files. So according to this files list :

and according to the recommendations from xandu73, I updated the presets using this topic :

even useing that protect preset and keeping all those files from that thread (in the upcoming winreducer version EDIT: version 1.7.5.0) is breaking sysprep.

something at the Accessories is breaking it. still testing

ok so under Remove - Accessories --> System Restore is breaking it.

also something at services (top 3/4 ) is also breaking it. still testing

EDIT: Superfetch Service is breaking it

EDIT2: Volume Shadow Copy Service is also breaking it

so i im through all components, and only those 3 are breaking sysprep:

Accessories --> System Restore
Superfetch Service
Volume Shadow Copy Service

i will continue to search which files/registry keys are needed after i solved some other problems

so im testing those 3 components that break sysprep. for Volume Shadow Copy Service those files are only needed:

< \Windows\System32\vsstrace.dll
< \Windows\System32\vssapi.dll

i will test the other 2 components soon

EDIT:

for Superfetch Service only 1 file is needed:

< \Windows\System32\sysmain.dll

EDIT2:

for Accessories --> System Restore

< \Windows\System32\srclient.dll

so with this sysprep should work

so i finished testing, all files that need to be kept are listed here:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

even removing those components sysprep works with RS1

so i did some more tests. i removed everything in winreducer and switched the protect sysprep prest to on. after that was finished i copied all the files i mentioned back and sysprep was working normally.

so when those files are added to the sysprep preset this function should finally be save and working (at least for RS1 Razz ) maybe those files will sole this problem for windows 8.1 too
