i deselected in modern ui settings and everywhere else i could think of, everything that is related to framework but i still get the error bellow

Perhaps a general windows features bug and not just framework 3.5

hi,

i removed all features exept those 2 and the features tab is ok, i also removed nearly everything at the remover tab, also OK. but there is something at services that breaks it, something from the lower part. im still on it Wink

so i tested now every component and that is the list:

Breaks:
Integrate - Windows Updates Files Cleanup
Printer Support Services
EXPERT - WinSXS Folder Cleanup (install.wim)

Removes it completly:
Features -> Net Framework 3.5
EXPERT - Net Framework Complete Cleanup

the last 2 components that remove it compoletely should be ok, since they remove the actual component.
so only the 3 above need to be fixed, like i said for "Integrate - Windows Updates Files Cleanup", it shouldnt remove any net framework files at all since this WILL break it and it doent matter if there are newer files available.

but it was a big supprise that Printer support breaks it oO

For :
- "Integrate - Windows Updates Files Cleanup" : I will fix it for the next build, I mean in v1.9.3.0 Wink

- "Printer Support Services" : it's not necessary to try to fix it ... because I will execute a component cleanup for Printer Services in v1.9.4.0 Smile

... I'm surprised too, but MS has changed so many things in RS3, so that's a normal consequence Wink

- "EXPERT - WinSXS Folder Cleanup (install.wim)" : I will try to integrate a fix in v1.9.3.0

i didnt test the registry, but im sure the according registry keys also need to be kept for net framework. so moving them to the net framework complete cleanup would be a good idea

i also got a huge collection of files needed to be kept (tested on RS5) but that will be huge workload on winter oO (more than 3500++ files)

this is very unfortunate that those two components still break it. And concernig your files needed to be kept, maybe this is not all to bad in the end, if this leads to a more stable windows experience Smile

(But I know, 3500+ files is not a small change..)

Hi

It is not a good idea to cleanup the Windows Update Files.
I also got problems with it
I simply clean the update files after installation.
I use Win Tweaker for it and this one cleans everything without problems,
in my case it cleans more than 500 MB
