WinReducer 8 - v0.48 (alpha) - 2013.05.06

REQUIREMENTS :
- Windows 8 (x32 or x64) or Server 2012 (x32 or x64)
- All languages supported
- A genuine Windows 8 (x32 or x64) or Server 2012 (x32 or x64) ISO
- Works with Windows 8, Windows 8 Professional and Windows 8 Enterprise
- Works with Windows Server 2012 Standard (should work with Server 2012 Data Center)
- No external software are provided in the zip package, you need to download them but feel free to have a look on the "Read Me.pdf"

INSTRUCTIONS :
- Not working with Windows 7 or any previous version like Windows XP
- Not working if you're using spaces in the path folder
- Follow instructions on screen : Button "Open", Button "Mount", wait, choose components, button "Apply", wait, then Button "Save" in Wim or in an ISO
- More important instructions are in the "Read Me.pdf" file provided in the zip package

I will slow down the WinReducer 8 builds release to have some time for WinReducer 7, but if you have bugs do not hesitate to post, and there will be a beta-test week before the release of v0.50 ... So just be patient because v0.50 will be release in around 1 month (near 15.06.2013) with many new things :

- NEW - Updates integration page
- NEW - ISO creation page
- Usb key format and wim transfert

But for the meantime, I will release new WinReducer 7 v2.xx builds.

You're welcome my friends, and don't worry that will continue to improve it ... And I need to confirm that but WinReducer will be compatible with Windows Blue with only few improvements ... So when a public Windows 8.1 release will be available, I will try it with WinReducer 8 ...

0.48 create user account as "other user" not as administrator its need to write administrator as user

I have no problems with administrator account..

Has anyone tried to remove tablet pc and tablet pc components? Does it create the right wim file with this version?

WinSxS folder size huge, suggested adding clean updated older version files, this feature will reduce the huge size of the WinSxS folder.

Hey, Winter, is it possible for you to add a function like vLite's "Component Cache (WinSxS)" cleanup? I mean, this (at least for me) reduces my WinSxS folder size to just 190 MB, and the resultant image works flawlessly. My WinSxS folder contains just 94 elements inside it (just inside it, not counting the elements inside its elements). The thing we would have to give up, though, is Windows Update, so we would have to integrate the updates. I really would like to see this feature in both WinReducer for Windows 7 and 8.

Is it possible?

I've done WinSxS removal with vLite several times, too, but not all builds were stable for me. It was hard to tell what was causing that, though, so I'm not even sure if it had anything to do with the WinSxS removal/reduction.

What I also found interesting was the WinSxSLite method of consolidating all hardlinking, rather than removing almost everything. It made sense when I read about it, but I found it very hard to use and there is basically no GUI to speak of. This guy (http://dmitrybobrovsky.ru/2012/09/05/decrease-of-the-size-of-folder-winsxs-in-windows-7-or-how-to-use-winsxslite-bat) reported some success and explains it a bit too, but I'm not sure how effective it all really is. Also, the process pretty much takes forever so I don't think there is much practical use for it.

@BillyBully : This should be possible but need some testing, but could you please send me a list of folders left in your WinSXS folder ? Because 190Mo sounds like an excellent music ... Another question : do you use vlite for this or another method ?

@parapher : I read your link, thank you, but you're right, it seems to be hard to use it. And, for me it seems that the better way will be the vlite one ...
