I really like this program, or I *WANT* to like it... The capabilities seem to be exactly what I need (a way to quickly re-install Win7 and ALSO just plain get rid of the stupid parts)... trouble is I can't get it to REMOVE things...

After about 10 tries and it "getting stuck" removing TIFF image filter (with all the other customizations etc which are wonderful) I decided to minimize my list of "jobs" and just ret rid of the most annoying of M$ services, "Family Safety" "Windows Firewall" "Windows Defender" "Security Center" (I can do all these things much better with other tools) trouble is, so far WR70 wont do it.

Have D/L WR70, v 4.1.0.0 (after reading alot of other people's issues)

Fresh clean install in E:\winreducer70 , fresh downloads of all the tools etc. No spaces in any of the directories, etc...

WR70 consistently hangs like so:

[Answered] What have I broken? (tried it about 20 times) 1505190441390099

At this point, I'm focusing entirely on simply removing those services. I'm using a virgin extracted Enterprise 64 SP1 iso.

Help please?

Some times WinReducer can't handle ISOs already customized with other tools. I faced problems too, but on the fresh ISO it goes right as it should be.

THANKS for getting back to me so quickly! This is enterprise SP1, I suspect it was slipstreamed in with "Sysprep" or whatever M$ tool leaves a "PANTHER" directory there.

I have  MSDN build 70749 with no SP1, could use that, but how to slipstream SP1 into it? Have SP1 cab file. Have MSI of "Windows_Win7SP1.7601.17514.101119-1850.IA64CHK.Symbols" (my machine is intel Q6600) just dont know how to get it integrated into the truly utterly barel naked MSDN iso.

I take it would be first integrate the SP1, save files, then go about removing the "features" I'd like to be rid of? I'm disabled, not much to donate to the project, but I would definitely be grateful to volunteer creating a more thorough and specific help file!

Thanks Again

VW - just on the note about the origin of your ISO.  Is your Enterprise SP1 an original ISO, or have you, or someone else modified it it any way?

Hey guys,

I confirm that your ISO source is important to ensure the best result possible. MS ISOs are recommended to be used with WinReducer. So, you need to avoid all modified or downloaded ISOs from non official sources, for this you need to verify crc, sha-1 or sha256 values directly from MS website.

I've added in my To Do list for the next version a tool to slipstream SP1 ... Wink

Have a good day !

With the good suggestions here I got it working beautifully.

I've found a couple of good FTP sites where I could D/L the virgin copy of SP1 Enterprise, so I wasn't challenged with trying to integrate it.

Winreducer didnt like my $OEM$ folder (created per M$ msdn help page) but I found a messy work around. Ditto for some of my registry changes but I found workaround for that too...

Yet your wonderful program accepted my crude hack attempts and they worked almost flawlessly! Tested in VM and running perfect.

THANK YOU... I would like to contribute to making a more current help file, this is a wonderful program.
