I have created a Windows 7 Ultralite version, for a laptop but I have a little "problem"
I want to keep systempropertiesprotection.exe to avoid this message when i click on System Protection.

Here my preset: http://pastebin.com/X5CNyDSX

If you are curious to see my result:

Tips to improve the reduction?   Very Happy

Hello,

i once mentioned a "Keep list" here at this post:

https://forum.winreducer.net/t760-keep-files

and winter is at it, so it will be available. Its just a matter of time Wink

if it is just the one .exe file you want to keep, i would suggest to use 7zip and open with it an untouched install.wim and extract that file.

after  that use winreducer to mount your reduced file and go to the MOUNT folder and copy that file back

Hello,

I've fixed the date for the "Keep Files List functionality" to 01 June ... Wink ... so it will be added soon !

To improve the reduction, I will also add many new components cleanup improvements for the 1st June.

In the meantime, you could use a :
- WinReducer Theme Pack which takes less space (few Mb)
- "Tweaks - System - Disable Hibernation" : few Gb
- "Tweaks - System - Disable Paging File" : few Gb (or change the size in the "unattended part")
- "Services" : Remove all the ones you do not need instead of disable it

But your approach is excellent ... Smile

Thank you for the replies...
I will try KrX... (good idea)
WinterStorm i can disable hibernation, but i need of Paging File.. and i have disabled all useless services for me... if do I remove them, I risk to make the system very instable Shocked  or no?

I have seen that in the NetFramework folder, a folder which referes at Framework 2.0.. how i remove it?

Last ask: I have trouble to install Framework 4, but i need an update to integrate but i don't know what update is scratch

hey,

i disables the pagingfile and worked like that for about 1 year and never got any problemes, till 1 or 2 months ago. some software didnt work without it, so i set it to 16mb and now the software which needed it work also Wink i use 8Gb ram on my notebook.

for the net framework  4 problem. it was reported here:

https://forum.winreducer.net/t1172-winsxs-problem

but till now i couldnt solve it.

for your service question. i remove (not disable) maybe 80% of services winreducer offers and i only got 1 problem which should be solved soon at winreducer.
as far as you keep the services you/and your software need there shouldnt be any problem

Hey, winterstorm I would know how to solve my problem on Framework 4, because I'm understanding that I need it for many things...

This my third preset: http://pastebin.com/RRsMRC7m

I have modified some things and now the ISO size is about 700 MB.

Hey,

Do not remove "Optimizations - EXPERT - Net Framework Folder Cleanup", if you want to install it after installation .... (you could still use winsxs cleanup)

OR

Integrate Net Framework 4.5.2 before installation using  the "OPEN -> TOOLS -> Updates Downloader" WinReducer tool, and download all Net Framework updates. Then integrate all updates using "System - Integrate Updates" before customization.

Wink

Is there a way to install only Framework 4? I want keep lower as possible the ISO size.. what is best way for this?

Thank you much for help!

Hey,

Sorry for my previous answer, I haven't paid attention about the fact that we are on the WinReducer 7.0 forum ... I answered for WinReducer 8.1 ... Wink

So, I think that you could not remove "Optimizations - EXPERT - Net Framework Folder Cleanup" and try to remove "Features - Net Framework 3.5" (I never try this combination, so this without guarantee).

Have a good day !

i already posted this link on my previous post

https://forum.winreducer.net/t1172-winsxs-problem

Kash wanted to install net framework 4 too and ot problems. you need to keep "EXPERT - WinSXS Folder Cleanup (install.wim)" so you can install net framework 4  after installation

or just keep the files i posted at the the thread + the home windows/winsxs/manifest folder

descriptionProtect custom files EmptyRe: Protect custom files

more_horiz
Tonight, i will try to keep "expert - framework folder cleanup (install.wim)" and I will see the results, otherwise I will integrate directly Framework 4 into ISO. Thanks very much at all  Smile

I have tried both possibilities and same situation  Sad
the framework 4 doesn't install: https://i.servimg.com/u/f38/19/14/21/57/net4_010.jpg

KrX, i try now your method, but I haven't understand what I must copy and where.

it looks exactly like the problem here:

https://forum.winreducer.net/t1172-winsxs-problem

--------

i meant this files:
https://forum.winreducer.net/t1172-winsxs-problem#11153
+ the home WIndows/winsxs/manifest folder should be kept

normally if you dont use the "expert - framework folder cleanup (install.wim)" option they should be kept

in my tests keeping this solved the problem. but i couldnt detect which files are needed for 100%

yes

descriptionProtect custom files EmptyRe: Protect custom files

If i save all folder x86-netfx... it's better?

descriptionProtect custom files EmptyRe: Protect custom files

more_horiz
you could try, but like i said this problem wasnt solved for 100 % and for Kasch it didnt work either.

and i dont know why it worked for me after keeping those files.

so maybe it would be easier to integrate net framework 4 into the iso before you reduce it (like you already said)

I started from an AIO and I have selected "Home Premium - 32 bit"... can It depend?

hmm thats a good question, i would say no, but im not really sure

I extracted Ultimate and had the same problem.

descriptionProtect custom files EmptyRe: Protect custom files

I have tried to integrate Dotnet Framework 4 in my ISO, but I'm not sure that. I have extracted the redistributable version (https://www.microsoft.com/it-it/download/details.aspx?id=17718) and I have put this folder as "update".. It's right?

Anyway, this way doesn't work Sad

descriptionProtect custom files EmptyRe: Protect custom files

I have also tried with WinReucer7 v4.0.0.0, but same result... I have to change all my preset to make "installable" .Net Framework 4 after Win7 installation.
