hey winter,

when i remove the service "Optimize Drives Service"

and i want so shrink the size of a partition from here:

i get this error

and cause the tip says "Formerly Disk Defragmentation Service" it should give me this error.

i will post tomorrow after some testing what file is causing it

after removing those 2 files i also get errors:


< \Windows\System32\defragproxy.dll
< \Windows\System32\de-DE\defragsvc.dll.mui

but i cant fix that problem i mentioned before.

i tried this 2 things

1.) i removed all files manually step by step and didnt get the error. only 2 other errors when removing the 2 files above

2. i removed with winreducer Optimize Drives Service and got the error. after that i added step by step all files back. but the error was still there after adding all files.

Hey,

I confirm what you said, I tried and it didn't work ... So it should be normal, because this tool needs to move all files to a better location on the HDD/SDD to avoid them from deleting ... so it seems the MS tools uses the defrag functionnality !

sure i will keep them, but like i said keeping those 2 files didnt solve the problem. 

i was thinking that maybe the software.log files that are deleted could cause this? (i didnt test it yet)

EDIT: thats now the 3rd time i experience it, when removing components with winreducer and getting an error and readding all files manually that the error still exists. and each time the software.log files at C:\Windows\System32\config are deleted

when removing all those file manually (exept those 3 under "keep") it works.
if i use winreducer and exactly those files are removed and i copy the 3 files under "keep" back to the wim, it doesnt work anymore.

im at the moment trying something. one of the manifest files is creating the defragmentation service.

maybe if i keep it and the service is created it will work.

i couldnt solve it at the moment but when i remove the defragmentation service (from registry Local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services)

i cant shrink the partition (i get an error)
